Y4J - Wolves

Welcome to Year 4J

Wolves

Hello everyone and welcome to The Wolves class page!

As Wolves, we work in a pack to achieve the best that we possibly can with the support of each other. We strive to be ambitious, kind, caring, creative and confident in order to create a happy and successful learning environment. In Year 4, we have high expectations for our learning behaviour which we all work towards.

Please follow us on twitter (@y4loundwolves) where you can find some of the exciting things that we have been doing in school. We will try to post at least a few times a week with pictures, information and some of our fantastic work.

English

In Year 4 we are working with a variety of different types of writing in order to create adventurous, high quality pieces of writing. We are focusing on improving all aspects of presentation, especially with our handwriting and book presentation. We are also working hard on our spelling practice and on our punctuation and grammar in order to improve the fluency of our writing.

Maths

We follow the whole school Big Maths programme. This helps to create instant recall of number facts and timetables which in turn improves other areas of the maths curriculum and builds our confidence in the subject.

Reading

This year we are focussing on our reading and comprehension which will in turn improve our attitude towards reading. As a class, we love to read and this is something that we pride ourselves in. We would love for this to be followed through to home, therefore the children have reading record books which we encourage you to fill in each time your child reads at home. Children also have access to e-books at home which they can read on their Kindle, tablet, iPad or smartphone.

PE

Our PE day is Wednesday, and the children will need to bring their PE kit and appropriate footwear this day. This year is very exciting for Y4 because we will be going swimming on Thursday afternoons (starting Week 2) and the children will therefore need to bring their swimming attire and towel on this day.

Homework

Our homework will be given out every Friday and returned the following Thursday. Spellings will be tested once a week.

Thank you for visiting our page; if you have any questions please see Miss Jackson or one of the Year 4 Team.
