Y3S - Kangaroos

Welcome to Year 3S

In Year 3 Cows, we strive to be creative, clever, kind, caring, capable, and confident and create a safe and successful learning environment. We will work hard as a year group to look after each other, and help those who need support. We will focus on improving all aspects of presentation, especially with our handwriting and book presentation.

In Year 3 we are developing our writing to create more adventurous pieces than before. We are looking for much more varied and exciting vocabulary, connectives and punctuation to make our writing stand out from the crowd. We are also really pushing our spelling practice to become more fluent, and becoming more independent by using more self and peer assessment.

We will follow the whole school White Rose and NCETM programme, this aims to enable all children top reach mastery and revisit areas of maths throughout the year.

Our topics this year are:

Extreme Earth

The Stone Age

The Ancient World- Ancient Greeks and Egyptians

An Environmental Project

The topics cover the science, geography, history, art, music, and DT areas of the curriculum.

Our homework will be given out every Friday, and returned on the following Friday. This will be given on Google Classroom weekly including spellings, maths activities and writing tasks. There will also be a Learning Log style home learning that is to be completed over the half term. We look forward to seeing your creativity in the learning log tasks.  Spellings will be tested once a week on a Friday. If your child has a spelling zapper these are the words for them to practise spelling not the ones on the homework.

In school the children read twice a day, sometimes in a group, on their own, with a teacher or a learning support assistant. The children really do love to read and it helps across all aspects of the curriculum, so it would be great for the children to read to an adult at home as frequently as possible. AT LEAST THREE TIMES A WEEK! The children will be taking part in the 100 Reader Challenge where they will be rewarded when they have reached 100 books read at home and marked down in their reading record.

Our P.E days are Monday and Friday, where children will need to be appropriately dressed to complete physical activities.

Please follow us on our twitter page to find out what we are doing during our time at school as well as our Google Classroom page.
