Y3P - Cows

Welcome to Year 3P



In Year 3 Cows, we strive to be creative, clever, kind, caring, capable, confident and create a safe and successful learning environment. We will work hard as a year group to look after each other, and help those who need support. We will focus on improving all aspects of presentation, especially with our handwriting and book presentation.  



In Year 3 we are developing our writing to create more adventurous pieces than before. We are looking for much more varied and exciting vocabulary, connectives and punctuation to make our writing stand out from the crowd. We are also really pushing our spelling practice to become more fluent, and becoming more independent by using more self and peer assessment.



We will follow the whole school Big Maths programme, This helps to create instant recall of number facts and times tables which in turn improves other areas of the maths curriculum.


Learning challenge

Our learning challenges this year are:


‘Could the Flintstones survive today?’

‘Could Y3 win the X-Factor?’

‘ Glorious Greeks VS Epic Egyptians.’

The learning challenges cover the science, geography, history, art, music, and DT areas of the curriculum.



Our homework will be given out every Friday, and returned on the following Friday. We also have Learning Logs, which will need to be checked and signed by an adult at home and the class teacher. Spellings will be tested once a week.



In school the children read twice a day, sometimes in a group, on their own, with a teacher or a learning support assistant. The children really do love to read and it helps across all aspects of the curriculum, so it would be great for the children to read to an adult at home as frequently as possible.



Our P.E days are Thursday and Friday, and the children will need their PE kit and appropriate footwear for these days.
